Their sizes range from a small pillow to large, full-room carpets and will often come with carrier bags and protective covers for ease of transport and protection. Their designs will often include animals, but have been known to be used for Islamic prayer rugs, Jewish Torah ark covers, and Christian altars. Oriental rugs have been part of traditional culture since the Middle Ages and have been integrated into most western modern cultures.

These types of rugs tend to come from what is know as the “Rug Belt,’ which stretches across the MENA region, but also includes Central Asia and parts of India. This is where they get their nickname of “Islamic Carpets” from.
